Apparently, this is the week for Michigan fruit! Fred & Linda of K & K Farms have lots of new things to offer! On Tuesday morning, we'll be picking up White Peaches, two varieties of Plums, early Bartlett Pears, Blueberries, Red Haven Peaches, my personal favorite semi-tart Balaton Cherries, and the last small picking of Sweet Bing Cherries. We're offering many of these items in bulk quantities as well, so if you're looking to freeze, can, or bake up a storm, this is the week to do so!
Unlike last week, this is not the week for beans on our farm. Although we still have some Red Swan Beans to pick, we're experiencing a gap-week on the rest of our beans. The next patch should start next week, and it is looking great!
On the sunnier side, Broccoli and Broccolini are ready on our farm. If you haven't tried Broccolini yet, it's a super tender broccoli with long delicious stems. It's great roasted, raw, lightly steamed, or sauteéd. Our "traditional" broccoli, is also super tender, however, our current variety is huge: each head is two to three pounds! Also new this week on the farm are Plum Tomatoes, Diva Cucumbers, and Carrot Flowers.
We have at least 17 weeks left to the season, so it's not too late to become a Market Subscriber! Raw Corn Salad with Tomatoes, Feta, and Herbs
I'm not sure if I've shared this one yet, but this is a delicious way to use the corn and tomatoes from your weekly box!
Just grab a bunch of basil and mint from the Add-On Market, a lime and some real feta, and you're good to go!
