What's In Season - Weekly Newsletter #16

Weekly Order Cut-Off Time is Noon on Mondays.

Deliveries & Pickups are on Wednesday evenings.

September 26th, 2021

Sorry for the delayed newsletters, but my usual--very limited--weekly "website" time was spent on updating our Box Choice page in our Online Market:) The changes are complete, and I *hope* they are straight-forward. (I plan to put together a "How-To" page soon, but that will have to wait until next week. In the interim, please message or call me if you have any questions or troubles.)

If you've missed my previous newsletters, we had to phase out the choose-your-own "I Got It" box for the remainder of the season. However, to be fair to our existing customers, you still may order the "I Got It" Box by selecting the "Home Delivery Plus Member" option on the new Box Choice page (even if you're not a member). Limiting the number of choose-your-own boxes will help get us packed and out of the farm faster on Wednesdays.

We also reintroduced our $15 "Basics" Box where we choose 4-6 small-portion items, and you choose the rest. It's basically a mini "Farmer Knows Best" Box that will help streamline our packing process while still offering you choice.

If you can't use what's posted in the weekly "Basics" Box or "Farmer Knows Best" Box, please don't feel obligated to take it! My idea from the beginning is that we could offer you veggies and fruits that you are actually going to eat! It's simply that, for the remainder of the season, we can only offer the you-chose "I Got It" Box to existing customers.

Next year, we plan to offer the "I Got It" Box as a membership option. That way, we can limit the number of you-choose boxes per week and still have the opportunity to welcome new customers with our pre-set box options.

I am truly sorry for the fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants approach. But, honestly, I had no idea we'd receive such an overwhelming response to our services so quickly! Growing is a good thing, and I think we're up for the challenge. I just have to make sure we can handle it before our deliveries get any later! So, I guess, this newsletter is just one long thank you for sticking with us while we grow. We may have been farming for generations, but the Online Market, admittedly, is another thing entirely! So, thank you for your patience while we learn and thank you for ordering direct from us!

Enjoy this gorgeous Fall weather!

RECIPE OF THE WEEK

Pan-Roasted Romanesco with Hazelnuts

One of the stars of the show in our pre-set boxes this week is Romanesco. Similar to cauliflower, this stunning heirloom is said to have been grown for more than 500 years!

Roasting Romanesco brings out a subtle nutty flavor, so adding a handful of hazelnuts to the pan sounds delightful! Be sure to toss in a bunch of Parsley and serve with lemon.
